Cocoa dusted hazelnuts

Once girls from Kaunas invited me to join small party called “50 cocoa shades”. I scrolled a lot of recipes and tried three of them, but only one was the one (others were good enough to eat, but just it). These nuts are very contagious – you start to nibble and forget to stop. They are not too sweet, you perfectly taste hazelnuts, so I liked them very very much.

Time needed:
Yields: 8 servings
Calories: 160 kcal / 1 serving
Ingredients:
1 cup = 237 ml
- 2 cups hazelnuts (or other nuts, almonds suits perfectly too)
- 1 tsp. vanilla sugar
- 2 tbsps. cocoa powder
- 1 egg white
- 1/4 cup agave syrup, golden syrup or honey
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- For nut coating:
- 2 tsps. cocoa powder
- 2 tsps. icing sugar
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 135˚C. Line baking tray with silicon mat or baking paper.
- Mix all ingredients, except nuts, in a bowl. Then add nuts and mix to coat them. Pour into the baking tray.
- Bake in an oven 35-40 minutes, mixing every 10 minutes. In the end of baking be carefull and watch out of nut burning (everytime I bake 40 minutes, but didn’t met this situation).
- Leave nuts to cool in a baking tray. Then sprinkle them with cocoa powder and icing sugar mixure, mix well.
- Put hazelnuts in a beautiful bowl. Leftover of cocoa and icing sugar put in a small jar – you can use it again if nuts will start to stick.
- Enjoy!
