This bread was baked in a lot of blogs and forums, but I could photograph it just now, although I baked it already five times. My hands and eyes were not successful 🙂 One time I overrised it, next time had to use rye flour, another next time some other my mistakes. But despite that this bread is really good, like in old times. Just I would prefer to use milk instead water – it changes bread texture, it becomes more mild.
Old times white bread
Time needed:
Yields: 2 loaves
Calories: 1097 kcal / loaf
Ingredients:
- 260 ml warm water or milk
- 40 g butter
- 1 1/2 tbsps. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsps. salt
- 500 g wheat flour
- 1 3/4 tsps. dry active yeast
Directions:
- Put all ingredients in the sequence mentioned above to the bread machine and set function “Mix and rise”.
- When program will be over, take the dough and knead a little bit in a floured surface. Form two loaves and put on a baking tray.
- Put to the warm place to rise while dough will double – I’ve risen in an oven on a lowest possible heat for 50 minutes.
- Then cut some stripes and coat with milk, beaten egg or cream.
- Turn on the oven to 180°C temperature and bake for 30-35 minutes or while bread will brown nicely.
- Enjoy warm with butter or homemade nutella 😉
